Assemblymember Arambula Advocates for Victims of Trauma

(Sacramento) – Led by Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin  Arambula (D-Fresno) the California State Assembly passed Assembly  Concurrent Resolution 235 declaring May 22nd Trauma-Informed Awareness  Day. Trauma Informed Awareness Day highlights the impact of trauma on a  person’s life and the importance of prevention and community resilience  through trauma-informed care. “Currently, 42% of California children and  61% of California adults have experienced one or more adverse childhood  experiences – more commonly referred to as ACEs,” Assemblymember  Arambula said. “ACEs are stressful or traumatic experiences that include  abuse, neglect, racism, and household instability and are recognized as  a proxy for toxic stress, which can affect brain and body development.   Learn more about trauma-informed care, watch this Assembly Access video.
