(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno) presented legislation to the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee that will help improve drinking water systems in communities that lack the infrastructure to provide safe and clean water. He presented Senate Bill 552 on behalf of Senator Lois Wolk, which authorizes the State Water Board to contract with a third party administrator to provide administrative and managerial services to failing public water systems. “All Californians have a right to safe, clean, affordable and accessible water adequate for human consumption, cooking, and sanitary purposes,” Dr. Arambula told the Committee. “Yet many Californians – especially in disadvantaged communities - are still unable to turn on their tap and enjoy this basic human right.” SB 552 was approved by the Committee and will be heard next by the Appropriations Committee. http://www.asmdc.org/arambula
