FRESNO – Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno) and a team of sponsors and partners will host a FREE Older Adult Wellness and Resource Fair on Saturday, October 4, at CTEC High School in Fresno.

This will be the second annual fair presented by Assemblymember Arambula that is specifically organized for the interests and needs of older adults. It is part of the series of free Community Health and Resource Fairs that the Assemblymember and the 31st Assembly District office have coordinated nearly every spring and fall since his election in 2016.

The Older Adult Wellness and Resource Fair will be held 9 a.m. to noon in the multipurpose room and outdoor area at CTEC High School, 1320 N. Mariposa St.

It will feature a wide range of activities, resources, and information. They will include free health screenings and flu shots; a panel of experts discussing senior fraud scams and adult protective services; numerous agencies and nonprofit organizations offering resources; and much more. In addition, the fair will have interpreters who speak Spanish and Hmong.

There will be a free food distribution. And, of course, there will be bingo!

The event’s sponsors are CalViva Health, Kaiser Permanente, and Anthem Blue Cross. In addition, the partners include the offices of Fresno City Councilmembers Brandon Vang, Miguel Arias, Tyler Maxwell, and Nelson Esparza; the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools; the Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging; the Central Valley Workers Center; the Fresno State College of Health and Human Services and the Fresno State Mobile Health Unit; the Valley Caregiver Resource Center; and the Central California Food Bank.

The population of people over the age of 60 is increasing nationwide. In California, it’s estimated that older adults will make up 25 percent of the population by 2030, according to the California Health and Human Services Agency.

Assemblymember Arambula said: “My office and I are teaming up with exceptional collaborators for this second annual fair focused on older adults. We want to offer seniors a single place to receive services and resources focused on their needs, health, and well-being. And, we hope it’s a fun time as well as a beneficial experience for everyone who attends.”
