FRESNO – Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno) today responded to Governor Gavin Newsom’s $291.5 billion budget proposal for fiscal year 2024-25:
“I’m pleased that Governor Newsom is maintaining his focus on and preserving programs that will transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, in the areas of health care, behavioral health, mental health, and more. In particular, I appreciate his commitment to expanding full scope Medi-Cal access to all income-eligible adults, regardless of immigration status. This is life-changing for so many people and their families who have lived here for years, paid their taxes, and contributed to our State’s economy. This change also will produce savings because we know that access to preventive health care helps avert more critical, emergency, and expensive health care costs.
“I’m also heartened that Governor Newsom is committed to protecting infrastructure and education funding. I’m ready to get to work with my colleagues on this challenging budget year.”
