A social media site that is established or maintained using legislative resources shall post the following comment policy in a conspicuous location on the site:
"The purpose of this page is to discuss legislative and policy matters relevant to my constituents and the people of California. Discussions on this page should be conducted with civility and respect. Comments containing any of the following content may not be posted on this page, and are subject to removal by the site administrator or his or her designee:
- Content that is threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, profane, obscene, or indecent.
- Content that contains hate speech or discriminates against another person because of that person’s race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other protected basis.
- Campaign content, including content urging or opposing the nomination or election of any candidate or the qualification or passage of any ballot measure.
- Advertisements, solicitations, or other content that promotes or endorses services or products.
- Content that suggests or encourages illegal activity.
- Content or conduct in violation of any federal, state, or local law.
- Content that may tend to compromise the safety and security of the public.
- Content that is unrelated to the topic being discussed.
- Content that is repetitive or spamming in nature.
- Content that infringes on any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights of any party.
- Content that is confidential, invasive of another person’s privacy, or contains personal information.
- Content that disrupts the normal flow of dialogue or negatively affects other users' ability to engage in discussions on this page.
Please be respectful and constructive when posting on this page. If any content is posted in violation of this policy, the site administrator, or his or her designee, may remove that content. Repeated violations of this policy may limit your ability to comment on this page in the future.

The Assembly Member or an employee who is authorized to use social media shall monitor the social media site for compliance with this comment policy. If content is posted in violation of the comment policy, the Senator or employee shall immediately report the content to the Assembly Rules Committee and shall exclude or remove the content using a process provided by the Legislative Counsel Bureau and approved by the Assembly Rules Committee.
