Medi-Cal for All Children

Medi-Cal for All Children

Medi-Cal for All ChildrenDo you know any undocumented children who meet the income requirements for Medi-Cal but do not have full-scope Medi-Cal coverage because of their immigration status? All children under 19 who meet the income requirements are now eligible for Medi-Cal benefits thanks to Senate Bill 75, which was signed into law last year.

Previously, undocumented immigrants who met all other Medi-Cal requirements may have qualified for limited or restricted scope Medi-Cal coverage, but now an estimated 170,000 undocumented immigrant children are now eligible for full medical care, vision exams, dental care, substance abuse treatment, mental health services and other Medi-Cal benefits, as long as they meet the income requirements.

This expansion will help bring down health care costs for the state by providing preventive care to thousands of children and reducing emergency room trips for routine services.

Who is Eligible?

Children under 19 years old who meet the income requirements for Medi-Cal are eligible for full-scope benefits no matter what!
